A road trip of superlatives: The West Coast of the USA

Updated: Jan 3

Are you dreaming of a road trip who has it all - vibrant cities, breathtaking natural landscapes, and the freedom of endless highways? My itinerary for a three-week tour along the West Coast of the USA offers exactly that. From the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, from the majestic Yosemite National Park to the deep gorges of the Grand Canyon – prepare for an adventure you won’t soon forget.

Due to the many sights, not all of them are mentioned in this blog article. Some sights are therefore only roughly sketched. You can of course find more detailed information in my itinerary.

San Francisco: The Gateway to the West

Your journey begins in San Francisco, a city known for its steep hills, the legendary Golden Gate Bridge and the former prison Alcatraz is known. There, experience the historic Cable Car and walk along Fisherman's Wharf before heading east to Yosemite National Park.

California's National Parks: Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia

Continue on to the natural wonders of California. Yosemite National Park impresses with its breathtaking waterfalls and granite cliffs. Not far away, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park offer a quieter but equally impressive backdrop with some of the largest trees on earth.

Los Angeles: The City of Angels

Arrived in Los Angeles, you immerse yourself in the flair of Hollywood, relaxing on the beaches of Santa Monica and the elegance of Beverly Hills. The City of Angels is diverse - from art galleries to trendy neighborhoods to world-class film and theme parks.

Route 66: A Piece of American History

On your journey through Arizona you will drive along sections of the historic Route 66, which will fill you with a nostalgic feeling of freedom. Small diners and abandoned gas stations tell stories from times gone by.

Arizona: Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon

The Monument Valley, with its striking table mountains, feels like the setting of a western film. However, the highlight of your trip could be the Grand Canyon - a natural wonder that will leave every visitor in awe with its sheer size and beauty.

Utah's natural wonders: Zion, Bryce Canyon and Arches National Park

More highlights of your trip await you in Utah. The Zion National Park fascinates with its deep gorges and hiking routes. Bryce Canyon is famous for its unique rock formations, the hoodoos. You will also marvel at over 2,000 natural stone arches in the Arches National Park.
